They say a workplace is only as good as it’s coworkers and we think here at Studio1 ours are pretty special. Today we meet Chris from Go Run Australia who is the newest addition to the ever growing community here at Studio1. Go Run Australia is a group committed to helping you with your running with personal running plans, access to blogs, podcasts and coaching insights from Chris himself. Here’s what Chris has to say:
As a qualified Recreational Running Coach, it is my job to de-stress your training, save you time, add accountability to your training and keep you improving. Your monthly running plan is written for you, with your goals and your lifestyle at the forefront of my mind. This is NOT an app or a one size fits all plan that you can find anywhere online. This is YOUR plan created by a real coach!
We spoke to Chris about why he chose to come and work with us here at Studio1 as well as what he loves about Richmond.
1. What are you working on at the moment?
I am only 13 months into this entrepreneurial journey, so I am still working on pretty much every facet of Go Run Australia as a business! At the moment, I am really excited to be working on some really interesting and useful blogs and podcasts for runners, which will be coming out over the next few weeks.
2. Why did you choose to work in a coworking space?
I think I was struggling a little bit to separate work and home life. I was getting stuff done, but not being anywhere as productive as I knew I could be, so it felt like the best thing to do. Go Run Australia has also just celebrated one year in business, so following my one year review, it was one of the things that I said I would try out. I am not regretting it.
3. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Ice cream addict.
4. What benefits do you see in a coworking space?
Studio 1 is really local for me, it is great value and just being here has really helped me to focus on my work, rather than getting distracted by all the other things going on around the house. I also was at the stage where I needed to get a bit more separation between work and home life, so it has been really useful for that. I have only been here a few weeks but already I am feeling more productive and on top of things. It has also been great gradually getting to know my coworkers and their respective businesses.
5. How would you describe Studio1 to people?
Its a great space, with a very local feel to it. Its close to several great cafes and makes me feel relaxed and productive whenever I go in there. Really relaxed and friendly too. I am also really pleased that Studio 1 is a collaboration between local council and the not for profit sector, and that it is linked to other spaces around Richmond, such as Burnley Backyard which is a great space.
6. Are you a Richmond local?
Yes and proud of it too! I live about 200m from Studio 1.
7. What are some of the changes you’ve seen in Richmond over the last few years?
So many! My wife and I have been here for 4 years, ever since we moved over from the UK. The choice of restaurants and coffee shops is forever expanding and I love that. We have so many favourite places to go. As a dog owner and also as a runner, I love that there are so many parks and bike paths along the Yarra to run along. These are all really well kept which is no easy task. There’s also a lot of housing development which is always going to be a challenge but I still love the place.
8. Do you have a favourite local cafe and what’s your breakfast of choice?
Friends of Mine is my local and I love the staff and food in there. I always have a long black coffee and most often it will be with the fruit toast, which is EPIC. If they served ice cream, I think I would end up living in there…
9.Describe Richmond in 3 words.
Sporty, foody, awesome.
